Permission for a Bonfire
TUESDAY / November 1 – CITY HALL 6PM
The Sunset Beach Civic Association is requesting the City Commission and Fire Department of Treasure Island grant permission for an old-fashioned bonfire, to kick-off our Christmas season on Thursday, December 1. The workshop will be Tuesday night. Please show up at the workshop at 6PM to hear more and to support this event.
Bonfires are commonplace on St. Pete Beach but there has not been an authorized bonfire on Treasure Island for decades. The bonfire would take place on the beach just west and south of the beach access road at the Parking lot next to the Pavilion. We would use non-sappy, dry fire wood, provided by Pete and Ron’s Tree Service. The shallow pit would be dug by volunteers from the SBCA, under the guidance of former Red Cross Responder and SBCA Board Member, Bob Nixon. We will sell hot chocolate and cider, grilled hot dogs, and s’mores.
